Moira was born and raised in Alberta, Canada and has lived there all of her life. After high school, she attended the University of Alberta where she acquired a Bachelor of Education degree, majoring in fine arts and early childhood. She retired in 2012 after a long and fulfilling career, teaching kindergarten for 29 years.

She has always been interested in art and creative projects and started to develop an interest in painting near the end of her teaching career. Primarily self-taught, Moira has also participated in several art classes and workshops from professional art instructors. They encourage and inspire her to expand her experience and advancement into the fine arts. Moira always loves being in the country, at the lake, in the mountains and at the ocean, and finds inspiration for her art in nature. She loves to explore the effect of light and shadow which is reflected in all of her paintings.
